What is the "bezel"?

I fear bloodshed.

Is the bezel the black or white bit that surrounds the screen on the front face of the iPhone or is it the chrome strip around the edge where the earphone jack and charging port are?

I always thought the bezel on my iPad was the black part that surrounds the screen on the face. In fact I found a reference to an apple patent about making that part touch sensitive. The article called it the bezel.

But, when you google iPhone bezel, you get tons of references for polishing the chrome "bezel"

So which is right?

Maybe Mr. Mayor in his new incarnation will have an answer.

Thanks, Margaret

Your first hunch is correct, although you could also refer to the beveled edge of the glass just FJ confuzzle things a little more. ;-)
