Remembering Don Herbert

Don Herbert created the character Mr. Wizard in 1951 for the half-hour NBC show "Watch Mr. Wizard". The show ran from 1951 to 1964, and I started to watch back in 1954. Sadly, he died at the age of 89 yesterday. He did a great deal to bring the realities of science knowledge and scientific discovery to many a baby-boomer. He shall be missed. RIP.

Mr. W. trivia -- When Late Night with David Letterman debuted in 1982, Herbert was one of the first guests.

he must have had a show in the 80's, because i remember watching him as a kid.

TMR, yes, the "Watch Mr. Wizard" show was spun off into different configurations after 1964. However, by then, I was in high school and the thrill of his scientific experiements sadly did not thrill me as much then.
