Password recovery for Excel

I need to recover a password on an Excel document (Excel for Mac 2011)

There seem to be plenty of little programs out there that will do this on a Windows machine but I can't find any that work on a Mac.

Is anyone here able to point me in the right direction?

Have you tried asking the owner of the file for the password?

It's a "memory hole" thing.

The person who created the password is, shall we say, no longer able to share that information.

I guess if all else fails I can send the file to a Windows machine, find some software that does this job in a Windows environment, etc. I was just hoping there was a mac-friendly application out there so I could avoid all the extra steps.
