I was told that a regular ethernet cable (RJ45) can work well up to 50ft in length. I need to connect a printer via Asantetalk and will need a 30ft cross-over type cable, will it also work?

I know right now I am using a 100 foot ethernet cable that is run through my house, and its working just fine. So you shouldn't have a problem at all rollee!
That's what I like about this community, prescience. I was about to ask the same question about running a cable from the house out to the deck, now, I have the answer before I asked, thanks.
FYI, the length of CAT 5 ethernet cable over 10t is 100 meters or approx 380 ft BEFORE you need any additional hardware.
Also, if you have a Mac with Gigabit ethernet (1000t), such as recent G4 tower or some TiBooks, you don't need a cross-over cable as switch is automatic.
PB, i was looking for a page like that.
is there a page like that re: cross-over cable, 10BaseT? and 100BaseT?
thanx
