Do I need ALL of CS4 bells and whistles?

Still like using Freehand 11, but I just purchased Illustrator CS4 as a competitive download from Adobe. The price was right. I want to start learning how to use it mostly for vector based art - logos, signs, etc. I use InDesign for most of my print design work. OSX 10.5.6

I don't do any web or video work. I'm not a software developer.

I'm ready to install, but there's a bunch of extra elements with it that I THINK I don't want or need - Adobe Air, Adobe Device Central CS4, Adobe Drive CS4, Adobe Extension Manager CS4. But I'm not sure what they do with/for Illustrator. It seems like 400 mb of bloat to me.

Any reason to install those items?

My and some client's experiences with most of arrogant Adobe's recent installers is - you do the install as they say - if you want the software to work properly, but keep a lookout for any options.

If any vital parts are missing, doing a re-install can be a real PITA - if it even works.

And yes, they include a lot of bloat which should be left intact (ie: not stripped) for it and any updates and stuff it needs to work properly.

PS Edit: Why are you still using 10.5.6 when 10.5.8 was released ages ago with a lot of fixes??

I didn't see a reason to upgrade beyond CS3, and now that CS5 will be out in a matter of weeks, I'll wait and see what it might do for me (I'll probably jump on it if/when I buy a new main computer, however).

With Adobe (like with Microsoft), I've learned to force myself to wait, to judge carefully what each upgrade brings to the table and how it will affect my workflow BEFORE I hand over the cc#.

PS. Yes, I know I should probably do the same with Apple too -- but since when has rational thinking ever won the day in an Apple debate? :)

Thanks. I'll upgrade to 10.5.8. Don't pay enuf attention to that.

Still on hold about the bloat or not. This is the first Illustrator I ever purchased.

Any other comments about whether to install ONLY CS4,
or CS4 and all the stuff that comes with it (Adobe Air, Adobe Device Central CS4, Adobe Drive CS4, Adobe Extension Manager CS4)?

When I read what these add-ons do, I would NEVER use them.
