Actually, we have known that the 970 would be Altivec Compatible since the Microprocessor Forum earlier in the year.

It is also worth noting that the second half of 2003 is when volume production is set to begin.

Apple could announce a machine with the 970 at its core a lot earlier and then not ship it for months and months. Wouldnt be the first time.

Nice to see IBM coming clean and have all those rumours confirmed. This must definitely be where Apple is going but you've got to expect that we'll see these previewed machines at MWNY at the very earliest. More likely we would see machines at MWSF.

Max 1.8 gHz would be sweet at MWNY but starting to sour by MWSF IMO.
