No, if you need the extra screen realestate, chances are you'll need the other features of the MBP too.
Would you buy a 15" MacBook (not pro)?
Rumours of this being a possibility...and I think it would be a welcome addition for those who can't afford a MBP but don't like the smaller size of the MB.

I prefer bigger screens to smaller... but then I don't need to lug a laptop around either. I might change my mind after taking an extra 10lbs everywhere I go. 
I want a 15" MBP with Santa Rosa and a GeFore 8600 GPU.
I think a 15" MB would be exactly the same guts as the 13"
The 13" MB is really nice and is selling like hot cakes.

Yup, but NOT widescreen.I think what many people want is a 12-inch MBP.
I'd consider a MacBook in 15.4" format...13.3 is simply way to small for me so it was never a consideration.
If the 15" MacBook has a dedicated GPU (at least a 7600 GT) and at least WSGA resolution, then I would definitely pay a premium for it over the 13."
