Yep, me too on numerous occasions plus I use my backup for clean installs of new operating systems I use CCC to make bootable clones daily on two different drives, one stored in the office and one in the detached garage. I also keep a 3 TB Time Machine copy via WIFI on my Airport Extreme router.

Saved my hide when the first eMac died and ditto when the main drive on the MacPro bit the dust.

I keep my OS and personal stuff on different Volumes, so I only do a system back-up about every three months. Regular files more frequently with a simple drag and drop.

I have never had the need to resort to a backup but I continue to do so regularily, because like death and taxes the day will come...
