Wired: Apple Tech Writer's Brain Surgery

909 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  fozy
I meant to post this weeks ago - Steven Gulie, an Apple Technical Writer, underwent a new kind of brain surgery that involves implanting electrodes and a chip in his brain, wired to an "iPod-sized device" implanted under his collarbone (Jeez, hope it's a Shuffle!) as a treatment for the onset of Parkinson's symptoms.

Gulie wrote the article about his experiences - a fascinating read.

Thanks for posting that - I had no idea Steven was ill. He and i have corresponded over the years (he is the author of the best book on Quicktime ever written - QuickTime for the Web) and a really nice, helpful guy.
I have read much about the procedures involved with Parkinson's. That was very interesting, thanks for the post.
