My iMovie refuses to open. It gets almost 100% into opening before "poof" it disappears and I get "The application iMovie has unexpectedly quit." (thanks Apple. I figured that much out). What it doesn't tell me is why. I ran Disk Warrior and no problems.

I'm running OS X 10.2.6 and have been using iMovie for months without incident. I didn't make any changes to my system. It just started this nonsense. Any ideas?

Try deleting the iMovie preferences.

i had the exact same problem with Appleworks and various game demos.. i havet yet to find the cause, but i'm too lazy to reinstal everything

I got it working again. But I don't know how.

First I reinstalled iMovie, restarted and no change. Then I updated my virus software, restarted and before running a scan it was working again.

When an application quits like that.. it's usually a corrupted preferences file..

I had a problem like that once with iCal. It turned out that I had trimmed down my fonts a bit too far.
