I've been wanting to buy a good surge protector, and thought, why not get a voltage regulator that does both? I came up with the "APC Line-R" as well as a "Tripp Lite Line Conditioner", which both do the same job.

So, I ask you, is anyone out there using either? And, where does one purchase these units in Canada?

I've checked FutureShop with no luck, and most of the distributers listed on the APC web site no longer exist. I'll buy via U.S. mail-order if necessary, but surely there's Canadian sources. The surge protectors from both companies are quite plentiful, but the voltage regulators are not.

Any advice welcome.

If you were in Toronto I would suggest Carbon or maybe Macdoc.

Mind you, may I suggest that you get a UPS rather than just a surge protector? Sure, it is a little more, but the benefits are worth it.

I bought a APC at business depot for $160 can...
