Video: Uploading, editing, creating???

Hi,
I'm so lost. I have a JVC Everio HDD camcorder and a Sony Digital Camera. I have videos on both, and would like to make DVD's. I have tried everything, but can not successfully burn to a DVD?
Can someone please help?? Do I need to have certain files converted, and if that's the case how do I do that? Am I able to use the iDVD and iMovie applications?

I saw a HD camcorder walk-through on the Macworld site a few weeks ago. Can't find it now though. It went through how to get the video files into iMovie and then convert. The downside to HD camcorders is that the files are already compressed and need to be converted before iMovie can use them with a final conversion for DVD. It didn't seem like a rough process (pretty automatic).

Try doing some searching on the Macworld site.
