USB Joystick advice needed

I am looking to buy a joystick.

Basically looking for all around good for most games, but VERY affordable.

I'm mostly using this to play some of the old MAME games if that gives you a better clue of what I'm looking for.

...and another question...

I have a 1ghz MDD with OS X 10.2.6. Is basically any USB PC joystick compatible?

I use USB Overdrive ($20 shareware) which works with any USB joystick or gamepad. Then I buy whatever PC-USB devices I can find on sale and use them.

This program is written by the legendary Mac programmer Alessandro Levi Montalcini, who has been writing excellent Mac shareware since the days of System6.

Thanks gordguide, that's exactly the kind of thing i was trying to figure out as I am trying to pick up whatever cheapo joysticks i can find...for now.

I'm actually considering building an old school style video game cabinet joystick that I can put on my desk for playing MAME games. But that's for later on when I have a bit of time on my hands. :D
