i am looking to record and digitize tv programs to dvd and was considering the 'eye tv' unit. today i came across this:
http://www.formac.com/p_bin/?cid=solutions_converters_studiodvtv

studio tvr from formac. very expensive but looks like the specs and quality is going to kick 'eye tv', especially the video format is mpeg2 and higher resolution using firewire.
BUT, on the site there is no mention of compatibility with toast 6 and superdrive, it says to use with their dvideon burner for mpeg2 dvd transfer.
has anyone here used this or have any comments, i will appreciate.

thanks for the links. you are right this item looks very promising but the risk in investment is also quite high (US$300)!!
i will post a review here if i decide to go for it.

Formac as a company seems to be going through some problems right now. Macintouch.com has a reader report.

Eye TV has a couple of new models released for digital channels.
