Tricking Apple into shipping an iPhone to Canada?

Hi, I'm new to ehMac! Has anyone tried ordering an iPhone through Apple Telesales before? I called them last week regarding ordering an iPhone and having it shipped to Canada. I told them I was American and currently residing in Canada. They stated they could go ahead with the order as long as I had an American CC. Does anyone know if Apple would be able to distinguish the difference between and US Visa and Canadian Visa card?

Apple would be able to check the shipping address on the credit card, which would then they could use to distinguish if it is US or CAN. So your order would probably be canceled.
How about getting Apple to drop ship an item, as if it were for a gift to an American relative? This would save the state taxes perhaps, free shipping as well. I am not after an iPhone yet, but am interested in a new iPod.

Ok I went to Apples US website and they do add the state taxes to where the item is being shipped to.

Absolutely - the card is coded to the issuing financial institution in the first 6 digits.
The first 6 digits of the credit card number are known as the Bank Identification Number (BIN).
