Does anyone know where I can purchase the TechTool Protege?

It is in stock at Synnex (EMJ sku 4067511 TECHTOOL PROTEGE ), a Canadian distributor, so your favorite Mac store or online source can special order it.

Be aware it won't be cheap. Between Synnex and the US distributor (Dr. Bott), a lot of markup has been applied to it, so the wholesale in Canada is actually higher than the US retail.
TechTool also offer something called Protogo, it's a little less, same tools as Protege but you use your own external firewire drive/flash drive. More info at Micromat - Protogo

Also, if you have a portable firewire HD, you could install an OS on it and some your favourite utilities and it would about the same price as purchasing this keychain, I think.

I would recommend Disk Warrior as a must have and Data Rescue and perhaps Drive Genius or TechTool but the software alone would be $300 or so. You would then be fully armed for almost any potential issue at about the same cost as the keychain.
Thanks for the information gentlemen. I already have Data Rescue and one other file recovery program on a flash drive. My current probem is a hard drive with one (important) partition that won't mount. My thought was to procure techtools to repair it as Apple's disk utility doesn't appear capable.
Hey Greg, my neighbour. You may want to contact me - could provide you with some valuable info! I'm "just around the corner" from you.

far more cost effective solution AND you can install DiskWarrior and DataRescue and Drive Genius on it as well for a very good utility drive and much easier to maintain and update for booting different macs
