I find everything works well even though my machine is a 466MHZ G4. The "readme" file says that Garageband needs a machine with a 600MHZ processor or faster.

I did notice that, on one of the demo songs where there were 16 tracks, the system bogged down a bit. I cleared some more room off my hard disk which fixed the problem.

What have you people discovered?

that's great news! i was worried apple would make garageband refuse to launch on slower machines. i'll be picking up a copy shortly, and we'll see how it runs on a 400mhz Sawtooth.

bloodyface,

I'd very much appreciate if you could report back on how well things run on your G4/400
I have an old Sawtooth and am waiting to hear how others with the same machine fare before I make a purchase.

TIA

Garageband needs ALOT of ram. On a G4 733 with 512 MB of RAM, we had to run garageband all alone. Otherwise it would stall and give errors. Makes sense that it would require all that ram considering what it's designed for.
