You can easily save that much money by quiting smoking. Let's say that the average smoker spends five bucks a day on cigarettes. Quit smoking for a year and you'll save over $1,800.
lol yes i know how much i can save if i quit smoking ... he will be doing this too and if i lapse he will take away my macbook...lol we will be able to save $400 a month
so i have made an appointment on monday with my Doc to see about the stop smoking pill cause im allergic to the glue they use on patches...
I smoked for 15 years and couldn't quit until...
Allen Carr's Easyway To Stop Smoking®

My mother and numerous friends have also used it to quit. Some also used the patch but it isn't necessary. The book instructs you to keep smoking until you're done reading it. Near the end, you're dreading having to have the next smoke. Highly recommend it.

I know you weren't asking for stop smoking advice but couldn't help it. You're heavy smokers from the $$ you spend - this book can keep you away from them. Good luck!
Macs have their own format system, but can also read or write to FAT 32
I am using MacOS 10.3 and it cannot read or write to NTFS without helper software or through networks. 10.4 is now able to read NTFS but not write
If you want to install windows on your Mac, Bootcamp will assist you in setting up a dual boot.

What gets taken away if he lapses?

hmmm im not sure tho ill make its something equally nasty...lol
I used the gum to stop. Smoked for over 10 years. The only way you are going to quit is if you really want to quit. Period.
Good luck, the first month sucks, but it does get better. : )

Just use Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities) and format the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

Dignity's a good thing to take away from a guy. ;)
Fat32 can support partitions up to 2TB so you need not worry about many partitions on an external
8 years or so ago when I quit I was allowed to purchase a Palm Pilot.
I used Ziban, the patch and I still smoked about a pack a day...
I have never smoked since ( with the exception of the occasional cigar... )

My Dad figured out that a couple could put a downpayment on a modest house with the money they saved after a year when they quit smoking.
You can buy a house to shelter your MacBook.

Dad is from Quebec, and so was born with a cigarette in his tiny fingers. But he quit smoking on his birthday at the age of 70, no patch, no gum, no program. He said at first, he'd time his cravings by counting seconds, but he'd lose count after a short time because his mind would drift to better things. That taught him that his cravings weren't as omnipresent as he'd thought, and they lessened daily.
Dad seems to be channeling all of his new-found wealth into a prodigious video-taping habit, shooting anything in nature that occurs anywhere near him, and burning it to DVD. I'm going to show him how to edit in iMovie. Maybe his next mad-money purchase will be a Mac Book Pro!

Good luck on your journey!
