Shipping notices from Apple.

HI,

I'm waiting on a CTO iMac to ship. Seeing that it is now Friday night and after 5PM in Apple-land, is there any chance that I'll see the Order Status website updated, or an Email from them before next week? I.e. Should I stop looking?

When something is coming from China, do you get notices based upon their local time (i.e they are a 1/2 day off from here), or is it based within Apple Corporate time (Pacific)?

My iMac shipping notice came through at 9:53 am AST. My iPod came theough the night before at 6:22 pm and a notebook case I ordered last Friday came through at 7:22 pm. I guess they can come through at any time.

The iMac had the following info from FedEx:

Aug 10, 2007
8:19 PM Left origin SHANGHAI CN
8:16 PM Picked up SHANGHAI CN Package received after FedEx cutoff
6:04 PM Package data transmitted to FedEx

Thanks. They don't seem to be constrained by PST times.

I guess I get to keep on looking for an update telling me that I'm getting my new machine soon. Their own shipping estimate had Monday as the last day, so it can't be far off.

No problem. I hate the waiting. Wish we had an Apple store here in Halifax.

I'm in Ottawa and we're without a Apple store as well. It wouldn't have helped me here anyway. I've ordered the new 2.8Ghz model that is only sold online, and I also got a Corporate discount also only available online.

I'll just have to wait. It's just disappointing seeing that others who ordered a week ahead of me got their's within the week while mine hasn't even shipped after a week+.

Does all the new product ship from Shanghai?? I just got a shipping notice for my iPod, and I was surprised that it was coming from there. I thought they would just send one from the States. I still have to wait until mid September for my printer and MPB

I just got my shipping notice now... at 8am EST, on a Saturday! What's even more odd is my printer shipped next day via UPS, my iPod the day after via Purolaor, and a week later, the iMac shipped via FedEx (all on the same order, all with standard shipping)! Why all the different companies? I don't know.

And there's no way my stuff shipped from Shanghai. As mentioned, both the iPod and printer arrived next day, so it had to be local. And FedEx is listing my shipment as coming from California.

Good to know you can get notices on a Saturday. Didn't you already get a notice from them? Was it their website?

I think custom builds come from Shanghai. Regular models and refurbs come from Cali. Other stuff may be local warehouses or dropped shipped (I.e. printer may have come from the printer manufacture directly without passing through Apple).

The shipping industry is interesting eh? I'd tend to think you'd do all business with one organization and try to get the volume discounts. But I guess it works out for them to use various shippers depending on the size and destination. Some are better with big stuff vs small, some are better with international vs local, etc.

My printer and modem were delivered by UPS and Puralator from Ontario and my refurb MBP by Fed Ex from Cali.Fed ex got the MBP to Barrie in two days, handed it off to a local company at 9.30 am Friday and I didn't get it until Monday pm---1 1/2 hours away.

Now that I think about it, the reason may be that the iPod is custom. I had the engraving put on it.

My refurb Macbook shipped via FedEx from California. I had to get 2 new batteries for a Powerbook via a recall, and they shipped DHL! That was a huge pain cause I had to drive all the way to Markham to pick them up. Oh well

I ordered iPod Nanos for my kids last Christmas also with the engraving. Put the order in on the Friday December 15th around 6:00 P.M. EST. I started getting notices the next day that the product had been shipped. Watched as it hit Alaska, Memphis, then Montreal before arriving in Ontario. They also shipped separately and I got one on the following Tuesday (19th) and the second on the Wednesday (20th).

Hi, all,

Brand new Macbook owner here after owning Windows/DOS machines since 1991 (actually, I'm an "almost" owner ... haven't actually received the Macbook yet). This thread is quite timely, as I'm having the same experience as others have mentioned: I've bought a custom-configured Macbook, and it's being shipped via Fedex from Shanghai. So far, the timeline has been as follows.

After leaving Shanghai Aug. 22, the Macbook went to Anchorage on the 23rd, and ended up in Memphis on Aug. 24. On August 25, it was in Mississauga, with the Fedex site indicating that the package was "available for clearance," but since then ... no further messages.

The Fedex site estimates delivery where I live (a suburb in Greater Vancouver) for Monday, Aug. 27 by 6:00 PM. Seeing as it's Sunday night, I'm hopeful that the package will arrive tomorrow. Anyone know how accurate the estimate is?

It feels kinda like Christmas eve!

Apple's site just reported that my new iMac is "Prepared for Shipping". The status just changed in the last hour. Now I just have to hope they ship it out today. If they don't, it might not get here before the long weekend.

Likely accurate, may even be a worst case scenario. I.e. you will likely get it before 6PM.

Now that it is Monday morning, what's their update?

That's weird... last week when I checked the FedEx tracker, it said shipping from California. This morning I checked to see where it was, and it now says item left Shanghai. I didn't custom build or anything. I wonder what changed since last Friday?

Perhaps the order for shipping was placed in California.

uh apple!

mine is supposed to ship today (aug 27-29th) and as of (9:39am eastern)

the status is still nothing...im angry

i want it before the weekend!

Today is the FIRST day that they may ship. Don't get too mad yet. Mine is prepared to ship today, and it's the last of their estimated days. Hopefully it does ship today.

Just so you know, mine said shipping the 22nd to 24th, and it just shipped today. So I wouldn't expect yours to ship until the 29th-30th.

The wait is unbearable isn't it.

"Int'l shipment release" as of 2:23 AM this morning (EDT, I would assume). 6:00 PM today or possibly tomorrow seems likely...
