Hey all

I was wondering if anyone here on ehMac uses an OLD SCSI scanner such as a HP Scanjet 4P with Mac OS 10.2. I'm looking for either a 3rd party app that will recgnize and scan with the scanner, or the actual software that came with the scanner.

Thanks All

*cough* Shouldn't this be in the *cough* Mac Help & Troubleshooting section *cough*, Eric? ;)

If I remember right, there was a utility to get some SCSI scanners working, but for the most part, SCSI peripheral support in OS X is very lacking. I looked for it and was unable to find it sorry. :(

Also, have you tried running the OS 9 utility through Classic?

SCSI rocks! It's a crying shame that OS X doesn't support SCSI very well. I have a SCSI HP scanner and a SCSI Plextor writer as well. I'm having some major trouble with OS X and HP scanner software.

OS X doesn't support SCSI peripherals very well. Unless it's a VERY expensive scanner, the best course is to sell it for what you can get and pick up a USB or FireWire unit. If you must use SCSI, try VueScan.

Cheers :-> Bill
