Greetings and salutations!

I am looking for a scanner that will work well with slides and negatives. I am running OSX and don't want to spend too much. Does anyone have any suggestions for what's worked well for them?

Many thanks!

You don't say what film format.
I'll assume 35mm slides and negs?

The best, but most expensive, is a dedicated film scanner.
The least expensive is a flatbed scanner with film capability.

New, you are looking at spending between $300 and $2000.
Used, $200 to $500.

It just so happens ;)
I'm selling one of each in the trading post.

I have heard that the latest Epson Perfection series (3200 and 3170) are quite good.

Staples has two HP Scanners that you could get on a tight budget:

HP 3570c scanner $79.97 (Refurbished)

HP 3670 scanner $99.95

Scanners listing

The 3670 is OS 9 and OSX compatible,
Both scanners can scan hard copy and film/negatives.

If you want to scan slides get a slide scanner the flat bed scanners do not do a very good job scaning slides even if they have a slide adapter. I have a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III which I am very happy with. it was about $450 I think.

My two Cents

I appreciate all your suggestions- have been reading and think the Epson Perfection series is probably the best available on a budget. Will let you know how it works!
