Why Not Buy A Mac?

"Many new PCs come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If your new PC behaves badly the moment you plug it in, I have news for you. It's not going to get better.

Take it back. Get a Mac."

:D

That's one fine Canadian we have.

Each new Mac comes with a free word processor called TextEdit, which can open and save in Microsoft Word format.
Two questions
1) Does he really mean TextEdit?
2) Does this column appear in print too or just on-line?

SK
(up waaay to early, but hey the baby is soooo cute)

Two questions, only one answer...

Yes TextEdit opens MSW docs. A little rough, but it does work.

Is this a Panther-enhanced TextEdit?
I open a .doc of mine with TextEdit and its mostly gobbledegook. That does not consitute being able to read the format -- not by a long shot.
Does the author really mean AppleWorks?
...confused here.

Other than that I think the article is great and Mr. McMurray presents a sensible and balanced argument. Very Canadian.

Yep, this feature is Panther only. And it doesn't work very well at all. :( Not sure what translator Apple is using, but it's not the Maclink Translator which does a much, much better job.

They better have a better Word translator when they release iWrite. ;) :D

Yes, that was a great (and subtle) dig by Sandy. His latest column discusses an MP3 lemon a family member bought (RCA Lyra).

Sandy is a fifth columist for Apple
His web site has lots of useful ips and instructions for dealing with PC viruses, worms, etc. He knows his PC world and is respected.
