Samsung has come out with a new portable music player to compete against the iPod.

According to this review, it has some interesting new features (FM transmission) but typically the interface and implementation fall short.

No thanks. The iPod is way slicker and is in it's 3rd-4th gen. Just wait until the windows user stats come out. We know that they've been able to use the iPod so far, but they now have iTunes as well, iPod will continue to lead the pack.

Samsung makes Apple's LCD displays and, in all likelyhood, the iPod's as well.

Apple owns part of Samsung (via a cash investment for LCD manufacturing plants).

I saw a lot of clients with iPods this summer; the vast majority were Windows users.

It certainly does seem to be a "crossover" device that has appeal wayy beyond the Apple computer community.

A car dealership in Vancouver Island was giving them away with every new car last summer, and lots of people I talked to thought that was pretty cool. Most were Windows users.

Wouldn't it be nice if Apple were to come out with a few other products that had the same mass appeal? Say...a truly perfect digital camera or something?

Hey, Gateway is making TV sets these days. Anything is possible.
