how can there be any relation to Safari 3 being installed and MSN crashing? Unless of course you are using MSN web messenger with Safari (which I haven't had the need to try yet)

I believe the safari beta and updates (and safari 2.x) also includes WebKit and WebCore, that are used as components by other applications and can cause them to crash or behave differently.

Nothing official, just my understanding of things.

There have been tons of people with the same problem. Safari 3 is installed...and messenger for mac crashes every time you close a chat window.

I have no understanding about how apps are made...and what would make them crash (conflict of code  ). I just know..that it does crash..and only when safari 3 is installed.
Still requires a reboot, screw it. I'll wait for the final release.
I view our newspaper site using a Deja Vu plug in using Safari.

When I upgraded to the beta version, it does not work. Needless to say, I uninstalled as I use our site all the time.

Issue two was my CIBC banking site. The old Safari worked like a charm. while the beta version worked, it chopped up the type and some graphics were only showing about 3/4 on the site.

Too bad. Other than that, I found it quite zippy.
Sinc, my reply might well be redundant, but have you tried using something like OnyX to enable the Debug menu in Safari 3?
Via that menu you can try selecting 'User Agent' to make the sites in question 'think' you're still using Safari v 2.0.4. It's a doddle.

I found at first I could no longer do any internet banking with Safari 3, but using the above ploy I now can. (Thanks, on my part, to fellow ehMac member krs.)
It crashes a lot on my PowerBook, but it is worth it for the speed. I seldom do anything important in a browser so no big deal.
safari 3 and 3.01 were not quick for me
3.02 does seem zippier
so far on ehmac and ebay

or it could just be lack of sunspots as i have 2 way satellite for internet
MSN and online banking (TD) are fine since I upgraded to 3.02 for me. But my Vista machine has nothing but problems with Safari (even with update).
I was playing around with the Debug menu in the Safari 3.0.2 beta this morning - and noticed that the Web Inspector window comes up in a totally different style than the others, kind of like a widget. Is this an accidental peek at the revised Leopard interface that's been rumored, or something else altogether? Hmm.
The Doug - FWIW, that is the previous UI that the Inspector used before the announcement following Leopard. The inspector itself has been around for a couple months using the HUD view... err Dark Transparent View or whatever the official name is.
I call it the Darth Vader look.
Too bad it didn't fix the issue where I can't close pop-up windows...

I have that with 3.0.2 on the Pismo, but on the MacBook extra windows close just fine. Tabs close fine on both.
I've really demoted Safari - too many issues when Camino is just about bulletproof.

I think it's an Intel versus PPC issue. My Intel Mac at work running Safari 3.0.2+ is also able to close windows without issue, but my PPC Mac mini can't.
