Double check the model you want to buy...

I use www.xlr8yourmac.com - Just in case that model is not mac compatible.
Almost all recent DVD writer are compatible.

Then unplug your mac and carefully remove your existing drive.

Install the new drive in the same fashion. Instructions like this are available.

Usually 4 screws and 2 plugs that cannot be confused.

Some drives with some Operating Systems require patchburn

I've done this 3 times without problems, Good Luck

Hi

Unfortunately, my quicksilver G4 is different from that shown. Still don't know how to remove the front to remove the entire drive

Thanks
You don't remove the front - it comes out from the side. 4 screws of which you only need two to go back in.
Hi All

Once again, thanks for your assistance. I did google the problem and wasn't able to find guytoronto's reference. Was able to replace with no problem.
Thanks

Garf
I've got Googling down to a fine art (mostly). Google should have a more straight-forward help section to help people find stuff. A lot of the questions on ehMac could be answered with a proper Google search.
But what fun is that...

Social interaction combined with the experience of others is way better than dry tech instructions.

XLR8 can be mindnumbing to read sometimes.
