Programming on a mac

Hey guys,

I just recently made the switch to mac from Windows, well not entirely I do love my games so I have my desktop for that. Anyways I am wondering what the good applications are for software development on a mac? I took Computer Programmer Analyst in school and then get a job as a tech which i've done for the past 5 years. I'd like to get back into programming a bit on the side for personal reasons, not wanting to forget everything I learned, etc. I'd like to do this on the mac platform and see what I can come up with.

Could you be more specific as far as languages you want to use? That would go a long way in being able to help you. ;)
xCode and the developers' tools that came with your mac should be more than enough to get you started.

Enjoy!
Currently using PythonIDE as I teach myself Python (Python Programming Language -- Official Website)

I believe, although i could be mistaken, that PythonIDE comes bundled in the default OS X installation. just do a spotlight search for it.

the online books and manuals i'm using:

Green Tea Press <-- also has a section for Java and C++
Byte of Python:Main Page - Text
Dive Into Python
Python Grimoire
