I never fully understood E-bay prices for older technology, except for the possibility that people in remote areas have less access to a supply of used equipment and bid up the price beyond that of large local markets.

..and then factor in the cost of shipping!

I'm selling my iMac soon too.. and unfortunately I dont think I'll get much for it either.

Indeed. I'm also fascinated with the used MacBook market. You can find an Apple refurb 2.13 GhZ today for $799, but people are asking $800 to $950 for a used one with lower specs.

Also, does anyone have any good strategies for selling older computers?

Same here...........but in a sense ebay "auction" pricing (not BIN) really reflects the value the market places on that item at that particular point in time.

Mac2sell seems to lowball prices now I find, used to be the opposite a year ago.

I'm in the market for an iBook.
The ones I priced out on Mac2sell came up at $C140 to $C160; I was willing to pay up to $C250 for a reasonably spec'd one, but people were asking $C350 to $C400 and that was with a lousy battery I would have to replace.
Somehow doesn't make sense.

When checking Ebay.ca, using the 'completed items' option can usually give a more realistic price for what they actually sold for - and if they even sold!!
