Does anyone know how to make Preview the default program to launch .pdf files that are sometimes imbedded in readmes etc etc While not having all the features of Acrobate Reader is does launch in about a 1/10 of the time.


10.2.8 on a 15 FP iMac 700 mhz 256 ram

Yeah, i've found this to be rather buggy on both 10.2.8 and 10.3.0. I haven't checked to see if it was fixed on 10.3.1.

To 'fix' it, go to the .jpg file, control-click or right-click it, then in the contextual menu, go to 'Open with...', and then in the pop-out, go to 'Other'.

A 'Choose Application' dialog box will appear. Find 'Preview' application in your Applications folder, select it by clicking it once, and then at the bottom left of this dialog, check the box beside 'Always Open with'.

This SHOULD correct your problem. If it does not, then it's probably a corrupt preference file.
