Before this Apple gem is offered to the wolves on Kijiji and Craigslist, it's being offered here because I’ve had many good experiences buying and selling on EhMac. I am posting this for a friend. She is looking to find a good home for her beautiful PowerBook G3/400 Firewire/Pismo. It's very rare to find a Pismo in such great condition.

She's the original owner. It never left her home desk. The trackpad, clickpad, and palm rest are mint; from day one, she used only a mouse. Screen is beautiful — no dead pixels; but it takes a minute for the screen to lose it’s pinkish hue when it starts up cold. The rear door covering the ports still "snaps" closed and all ports work.
The RAM and hard drive have been upgraded: 768MB and 40GB respectively.

Other goodies include:
Two batteries — one holds about a 2-hour charge!
PowerBook weight saving device.
Airport card.
All the original OS disks, including the Hardware Test disk. Comes with a clean install of OSX.4.11 (Tiger).

More info: PowerBook G3 400 (Firewire/Pismo) Specs (Firewire/Pismo, M7630LL/A*, PowerBook3,1, M7572, 1840-1) @ EveryMac.com

Also includes all original wires, cables, and accessories; except the box. She even has the original invoice from CPUsed.

She’s hoping for $295 which includes a Nextech laptop bag. Of course, the bag looks brand new, too.

Her preference is a local transaction, but will consider shipping to an established EhMac member.

Note: all photos are the actual Pismo she is selling.

This is such a handsome model. I had one of my own once. Indeed, the slight pinking of the screen on start-up is just part of the Pismo. It clears up in no time.

Thank you, Kazak.

Indeed, Macfury. Some people still think this was Apple's finest laptop. The hot-swappable optical drive bay is brilliant. I wish my MacBook Pro was capable of holding two batteries — or no batteries, as is the case (no pun intended) with the Pismo.

I've never been more annoyed at selling mine. But a co worker's BF needed a laptop, and i was looking to sell and moved to a 12" PB G4, and this was going to be his 1st Mac. I was more enthused @ getting him on the Mac OS than anything, and was more than happy to sell him mine.

Later, the reality of having sold a classic kicked in.

:(

I would scoop this had I the extra scratch. But I would see an old schoolers really appreciate this. Am I wrong?

Would make for a good pitch by saying that this was the Sex in the City lap Carrie used to type her life's ups and downs on - though I think that she had a Lombard. Does my mem escape me?

Great lap!

I had the benefit of selling my Pismo (purchased on ehMac so long ago, and then restored by me: replaced the daughterboard, sound card, RAM, hard drive...) to someone who takes care of stuff and lets it live (ehMac member). He used it as a server (!) until very recently.

He also bought my pristine MacBook Pro 2008, which is still his day to day computer, running the latest of everything.

I still have two of these Pismo(s) well stored in a closed. One 400mhz and the other the top of the line 500mhz model. Perfect condition, I keep them and when I'm nostalgic use them for a few hours. Great machine the Pismo and so easy to work on. Also have two Titanium(s) but that's another story...

Yes, it's available. Yonge & Eglinton area. My Mon-Fri schedule is often flexible, so if it helps you, a daytime meet-up is possible.

Anyone know where I can get a battery rebuilt for this?

Awesome machine, I had one back in the day. Loved the dual battery bays and the black case.
There was a big battery rebuild thread on ehmac a couple years ago that mentioned a Toronto place that will put new cells in any battery and seemed to do a good job can't find it right now though.
