I got a great deal on a 12" AlBook (1.5 GHz base model), but the battery was fried (only held 30 minutes of charge). I planned on upgrading to a Newer Technology battery (I have one in my Pismo, and it holds between 6 and 7 hours of charge), so the dead battery didn't bother me.

Then I found out that Apple had a recall on certain iBook and PowerBook batteries, and the one in my AlBook was on the list! So I'm getting a new placement from Apple. :D But now I'll have two batteries. This is great (I've always wished for one when I was out and my Pismo finally died, and there was no AC outlet around).

The only standalone charger I've seen so far for PB batteries is the Newer Technology one. Does anyone know of any other standalone chargers? It doesn't matter if it holds one or two batteries, as one would likely be in my PB when I was using it anyways, charging with the regular AC.

Yeah I just bought a used 12" and found it was on the list so got a new battery!! But they send you a box to return the old battery ... haven't sent it yet. Are you sure you'll have two batteries or will you be required to send the recalled one back.

Looks like I failed to mention that I had already purchased the Newer Technology battery before finding out about the Apple recall! :D

So I'll have one hi-capacity battery, and one stock battery, both brand new. Yes, I'll be sending in the recalled battery to Apple.

So the question remains: Battery Charger anyone?
