My 2.0GHz PMG5 does not boot. I noticed applications randomly quitting about a week ago, the main culprits being Mail and Safari. On Thursday, Finder started to quit when I tried to open stacks in my dock. Around yesterday evening, Finder started to crash when I tried opening any files or folders on my Desktop or in a Finder window. Today, my Mac does not boot at all. I have disconnected all peripherals- external HDD (for Time Machine) and USB drive, then tried rebooting then booting into safe mode. No dice. When I hit the power button, I hear the chime, but then it just stays on the Apple logo and spinning loading gear screen and the fans go to maximum speed. Like I said somewhere before, I'm extremely unlucky when it comes to computers. My laptop PC doesn't even boot any more as well, but I couldn't care less about it.

Will it boot from the install discs?

My first choices would either be a failed HD, or bad RAM. If it's just the HD, it should still boot from the Boot Discs, if it's RAM, it likely won't load at all.
