I'm on this building/handyman kick right now. Not sure what I ate. Maybe after taking my CDRW case apart and back together...

Anyhow, looking to build one of these ext HDs. I know that I need the case and HD but will all the little access come as well? Is there an online guide? What about the HD itself, it must be formatted, no?

As well, I may use the 5400 in my lap right now. Can I get a small bus powered case? Any rec's? Want to do this before this buzz wears off... :D

I bought an ADS Technologies case, I've changed drives in there many a time and it worked with all my "left-over" old...and I mean old, IDE drives.

Everything came with it, including the FW cable. All you have to do is set the drive to Master, mount it in the case with screws provided, plug it in, turn it on...and if you're running Jag or Panther it'll mount...then format, partition and use.

Also, have a look here: Firewire Enclosures.
