I was just surfing around looking for parts and found this site, I couldn't believe how expensive parts are in the States...Ouch!
It'd be cheaper to just buy another PowerBook for a part that you need.

They look like Apple OEM parts (new). These are the kinds of prices you pay at a service centre with new, Apple sourced parts. No different than paying $350 for a fuel pump for your BMW.

Just like with your car, the parts for older machines are based on what it cost to make extras when the machine was new production. In other words, not cheap.

Generally, you shouldn't worry too much about the prices; it's what AppleCare or your warranty pays for 'em. If you need out-of-warranty parts, or you're somehow on the hook for the repair cost, check out other options (pulls and used parts).
