My wife's 13" Macbook (it was bought they day the Macbook first came out) has a problem with the case/clicker. The case has separated slightly in the front right hand corner and the clicker no longer works - its constantly pressed by the case. I remember reading that the early Macbooks had case issues and Apple fixed them even if the warranty ran out - does anyone know if Apple will fix this or do I need to start removing the millions of screws necessary to try and fix this myself?

The clicker of my late 2007 MacBook had a similar problem and I was able to revive it by removing the battery and clearing out any dust and lint that was trapped under the battery.

The bottom of the clicker button is visible when you remove the battery. I think yours might look different than mine, but you'll get the idea from this image.

I found lots of info while googling - many people described the problem as "squishy" trackpad button.

Not a guaranteed solution, but try it before you remove all those screws.
