Hi,

A few years ago I read about a way to make OS X appear like it is starting for the very first time. You know, you buy the Mac, take it out of the sealed box, start it up and it asks you for your name and other information. There is a folder somewhere in OS X that you can delete to make it do that all over again without completely reinstalling the OS.

Anyone know what I am talking about? It got into my head a few days ago and now is bugging the heck out of me.

If i recall correctly, you can do this in the terminal:

sudo rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone

Reboot your computer and viola. The setup assistant kicks in.

Hi,

I think CubaMark has the method I was thinking of.

The Terminal idea is interesting as well, but I haven't spent anytime there.

Thanks for scratching the brain itch.
