This sounds SOOOOOO cool and exactly what I have been waiting for, for so long. MacCentral has live reporting here.

What I love so far....

"The Apple music service will offer one-click downloads. You can use iTunes to "browse" the entire music store by genre, artist and album. Apple is offering music tracks not available anywhere else, including Bob Dylan, U2 :D
, and others."

I must be the only one that thinks 99 cents US is too much to pay for 1 compressed song.

I might pay 99 cents Canadian for an uncompressed (CD) song, but if it is a compressed copy, I'm thinking something like 25 cents CAD is about all I'd pay...
The reason the service is not yet available in Canada is due to the fact that American and Canadian copyright laws are completely different. So, every single one of the 200,000 songs that are available have to be cleared for publishing and licensing rights. This means dealing with tens of thousands of people in the Canadian music industry to get all the clearances. This is no fault of Apple or Canada. Apple are an American based company and I can see why they got all the American clearances first. Hey, all the Yanks can test and debug the system and then it will be ready for us. I am curious as to what the cost per track will be for us - still 99cents? Also, to those who said it was not fair that a 1 minute track cost 99 when a 10 min track cost the same? Is it really unfair? Isn't it quality and not quantity? I have used all of the music services - and this one blows them all away as far as ease of use, availability of tracks and videos - all playing in iTunes! It's awesome and I can't wait to be able to use it ;o) CHEERS!

They did say that the Music Service will be available in Canada shortly... but sometimes it can take a while.
A technical question about iTunes4 and the new iPods. I don't profress to understand the technical aspects of the new AAC codec system with the new iPods/iTunes4 over what existed last week. However, if there is a benefit of this new system, is it still possible to download parts of of a classical musical score (e.g, the second movement of "The New World Symphony") off of an existing CD and have this coded in the newer format? Personally, I would love to have an array of play lists of bits and pieces of the various CDs I bought and own. Might this task prove to be problematic with a new iMac, a new iPod and iTunes4?
I think that jwoodget just answered this question in another thread, so sorry for the misplacement of this question. Paix.
Keep in mind that Sheila Copps will no doubt want to have a piece of his pie by imposing more taxes on the consumers.
Will she want to do this during her leadership run?
Look who we're talking about. Nothing she does would supprise me.
sheila is not making any friends in cabinet these days

her name will carry her in the next federal election in her riding, but look for her to take more of a "back seat" in the house

i don't think her and mon. martin see eye to eye
I think that a great deal will depend upon her showing in the leadership race, and whether her level of support warrents a front line cabinet position.
Going back on to the topic of iTunes 4, I've been browsing the Music Store for a better part of an hour now, and well the more I use it, the more impressed I get. I just wish that two things would be added: 1) Support for Canada 2) Lower the prices of the songs, 99 cents is ok, but I really think if they dropped it to maybe 50 cents they would get twice the amount of traffic.

Also, again, where is everyone finding those music videos? i can not find them at all. :(
Hey Chealion

If you go to the main page for exclusive artists which are listed on the home page you will see a link that says video under exclusive tracks -I think sum 41 had a video...massive attack...queens of the stone age...those are all good ones.

iChard - ahhh I see them now... I must have been blind, have to go in and look at the artists.
Well thank you a ton.

Re: 99¢ US... yeah, wish it was just a bit lower.

Its right at that point where its ok, but not that great... Had it been 49¢ or something....

Well, either way I have lots of Songs picked out that I want to buy. Some 80's tunes that I would never buy the whole album for. Some top 20 songs that I like, but would never buy the album for.

For me, that's the biggest thing.. there are so many song, that I don't want to buy the whole album for. Those that I do like, I've bought already.
