New MacBook Pro

Hi,
I just got a new MacBook Pro for work and I wanted to check and see if it is the latest one to see if I have the new processor and LED screen. Can anyone tell me how I can check that?

Thanks,
B

Go to the Apple menu in the top left corner, About This Mac. If the speed is 2.2Ghz or 2.4Ghz, and your screen size is 15.4", then you have an LED-backlit display. This is the latest MacBook Pro.

It would also say on the box, if you have access to that.
yep...it is....2.2 Ghz and 15.4" - so how much better is this one then say if I bought one several months ago?

That depends.

A few months ago, would you have had the time or foresight to make sure you were 'buying' the latest version, beforehand, or would you also have asked a similar question subsequently on an online forum?
I guess i'm wondering what the difference is with the new processors and led screen?
the LED backlight and the new processor are more power efficient so you have slightly longer battery life. The faster ghz is minimal over the last revision, so you would not have noticed any real difference between the two.
The biggest upgrade in the new MBP over the older one is the graphics card. This is a much bigger upgrade than the processor.
Take a picture from the camera. I heard the new ones have 1.3mp (1280×1024) cam compared to the older mbp which has vga (640x480) only.

check it out

The pic looks really nice compared to teh vga, its not as grainy...
Any reviews?

Anyone fortunate enough to get one of these already - can you post a quick evaluation?

Am looking to upgrade to one but there seems to be a lot of complaints from another forum regarding the quality of the screen - some yellowish tint on the bottom half?

I have one and checked the specs and mine has the same as what they are talking about. The problem is none of the Apple apps use the 1280x1024 res with the iSight. The people in the article were using iGlasses (I think) and I don't have that. I am guessing that iChat, Photoboot, etc. in Leopard are going to use the higher resolution with the new MBPs. I will find out when leopard comes out.
Well, I just ordered one, but it will probably be 10 days minimum before it gets here. I'll try to remember to post an evaluation here or on my blog once I've played with it for a few days.
I bought a 2.2 MBP at the Eaton Centre store on the 15th, and after a week of very light usage (thing never left my desk!) the backlight wouldn't come on from a cold start or wake from sleep. Called in to AppleCare this past Tuesday, and am just waiting for the FedEx shipping labels to come in to send this sucker back for a replacement.

My first Apple laptop experience isn't going well so far :( But while it was working it seemed just great. Hopefully the replacement will be perfect and I can sell off my G5 tower.
