I think I'll be hanging on to my 10Gig model. It suits my needs just fine.
If I am to believe the rumour sites, including stories posted here (
http://macrumors.com/), Apple's new iPods will be unveiled on Monday along with a pay-per-song music service. Running this thing will be Apple's new AAC/MP4 format...and the gist of it is that you get smaller files and better sound in exchange for Digital Rights Management (i.e., controls on what you do with the files).
I guess you have to decide for yourself if that's a fair exchange.
One thing's for sure....if the new iPods look anything like what thinksecret has suggested (
http://www.thinksecret.com/news/aprilipods.html)...it will represent a step backwards in terms of intuitive design. So hang on to those first generation iPods, folks--they could soon be collectors' items.
Just my two cents....guess we'll have to wait and see what happens on Monday (hey I thought Tuesday was Apple's favourite day of the week?)
