Looks intriguing, but I'll take it with a grain of salt. Before WWDCs it's common to see fake pics start popping up.
Yeah, I know. I started a Mac rumor a few years ago that a site reported

beejacon

... so I know how easy it is to fake one.
Why do something so progressive like an LED (i'm assuming Organic LED) display only to do a LCD keyboard... the keyboard's gonna waste more battery than the display. Unless it's like a monochrome LCD with LED backlighting
The 10" format would be great, except that in "widescreen" its only a few inches high.
Mmmmmm Ultraportable. :)

Seriously, if Apple does this -- it's gonna be great. I have no doubts about it.

The problem I see is... 128GB Flash HD. That's gonna be SO MUCH MONEY. And the LED Screen? This thing could easily cost $3000! That leads me to believe this is a false rumour.
I've owned an "ultraportable" and it's not THAT great. Before I got my MacBook I had a Fujitsu P2000. It had a 10" widescreen...it wasn't very enjoyable. Too much neck and eye strain for me. I'm much happier with my 13" screen.
I can see a few uses for an ultra-portable... but laptops are getting more and more popular as the user's only computer, not a desktop supplament... a 10-12" screen seems woefully inadequete for such.

Mind, as long as they build it for the right market, I can see it selling.
I agree that any ultra-portable will have limited market share. Now if they made it dockable like the old powerbook duos I would buy one.
Doug...

nyuk nyuk nyuk
While Apple does have a very simple, easy for consumers to understand, product line, they do fall short in many categories.

This Ultralight is one of them. The 12" PowerBook was VERY popular with a lot of my clients, and people still ask if Apple is coming out with a replacment soon.

I would love to see Apple make a "Toughbook" version of their MacBook Pros. For those of you who are unaware of the Toughbook, Panasonic makes it, and it's uber-rugged - Panasonic Toughbook -- Fully-Rugged
Although the Toughbook is a pretty cool concept, I think it has even smaller marketshare than the ultraportable. I don't see many Apples users (ie graphic design) going to Desert War anytime soon. :p
It might be a region targetted device. It might only sell a small number in America, but could do very well in Asia.
I say it again and again, I'd sell my MBP in a second to buy an ultraportable. You can always plug in a desktop LCD to supplement the screen when you're home.
i think its fake. why in the world would Apple display the slides to the keynote? moreover, why wouldn't the person who took the pictures, KEEP taking pictures? Why not a pic of the ultralight notebook itself? Or other crap they're releasing? Or any other friggin slides

i just wrote a paper on apple for a pop culture class... it's so interesting to watch people's reaction to these things

I agree, when I was still working in Tokyo more than 10 years ago, the ultraportable was the way to go. Small desk space, small or no space in the train, small everything. With no ultraportable in it's product line for more than a year, Apple has lost market share in this segment specially in Japan and other parts of Asia.

I agree it's a very small market, but I can see reporters/photographers taking their Toughbook Pros into the field... Macs excel at graphics work, right? :)
I would be all over a 10" portable from Apple. I've been considering picking up a laptop for photo storage/management and communication on the go. I'd rather a 10" than the iPhone right now! :D
