I haven't had a OS X-workable printer yet, so I need a replacement for our ancicent StyleWriter 1200. I was looking at this one:

Yes, it's cheaply priced and does just what we need it to do - print reports and notes (no photos). Now I need to clarify - does this work with OS X? It says Macintosh, but no operating system is specified.

Now, the second part. My 8 year old 17" ViewSonic monitor won't last much longer. It shudders constantly, and runs purple flashes down the screen with any tiny vibration. And since it's 8 years old, what do you expect - monitors don't live forever.

I want a replacement monitor by ViewSonic - no other brand. Any of you have any suggestions, comments or concerns with your current ViewSonic monitor? I want a new 17" one - no bigger, no smaller, CRT-style. I'm looking at this one for just under $300.00 CAD:

The C42 does work with OS X (and 9), but you might consider going with the C62 (its about 150$ and there is a mail in rebate of 30$.

As to a monitor, Viewsonic is a good choice. Have a look at the E70f, which should be priced at around 249$ or so. It is a flat CRT. The P (Professional) Series is a better series though.
