Well, i hunkered down with iMovie 3 this afternoon and discovered lots of new fun things. and i LOVE the ken burns effect, so i made a movie! click here to check it out!

Yeah... I want to start screwing around too. But I too have not bought the camcorder yet. Waiting for the new Canons to come out (Zr60-65-70). But this movie looks like it was all done with stills. Is that not correct? He mentioned photography in the credits. Pls correct me if wrong...

it llooks like it was all stills. I have started playing with the ken burns effects. you can import stills from iphoto quite easily. It reminds me of the screensaver in osx. I'm still saving for a vid camera... i would love to pick up one of the panasonic 24p cameras, but will more than likely end up with a canon zr.

The Ken Burns Effect is done with stills only. It is based on a film making style of Ken Burns who had only photos to work with when he was making his documentaries.

I dont have a Digital Video Camera yet, so I have been looking forward to playing around with it.

OK. So I guess when you select Screen Effects in your prefs (Beach, Cosmos, Forest etc.) you are getting the Ken Burns Effect. Am I right?

ohenri, you are correct. it's not a plug in its what comes up when you select photo in imovie 3.
aurora, its very similar. the ken burns effect give you more options as far as movement.

Buck, if I understand what you're saying, is that I can use iMovie3 although I do not have DV video data uploaded? If so, I'm jumping in sometime this weekend and cutting something asap.

right you are ohenri. you will be limited to stills and any quicktimes that you have on your drive.
