I had the chance of using a rotary something on my Windows puter couple years ago. But I can't remember what it was 
Only thing I thought was this thing is really cool
The rotary was easier and faster to use than the scroll wheel, just a little spin of the wheel or disk and you could scroll horizontaly or vertically................. seems to me I was using it in Corel Photo.
