As I was adding links to an earlier post, I noticed something at macrumors.com (http://macrumors.com/) Someone has posted an interesting morsel on a patent the apple has allegedly filed for a new kind of mouse...a rotary mouse. From the looks of it, the wheel would be similar to that which controls the iPod.

Neat.

It better have two buttons on it.

PG, I saw the same info, but I thought that I read there, or elsewhere, that for some reason the scroll wheel mouse that they were tinkering with could only go in one direction. I thought that I was misreading this, but what would be the use of a scroll wheel that could only go in one direction? I have a Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical, and I love how it operates (albeit on a Dell desktop).

Well Dr. G, your Logitech mouse will also work on your Mac when you recieve it! I really doubt they'd come out with something that radical, its just too different, as its asking people to completely change the way people use a mouse.

I had the chance of using a rotary something on my Windows puter couple years ago. But I can't remember what it was  Only thing I thought was this thing is really cool :D
The rotary was easier and faster to use than the scroll wheel, just a little spin of the wheel or disk and you could scroll horizontaly or vertically................. seems to me I was using it in Corel Photo.
I wish I could remember what it was :(
