Really depends on your current set-up. What software are you using for recording, what is the hardware (G4 is pretty vague) and therefore, what inputs do you have. Also really depends on what the source is, distance from source and final output requirements.
I picked up a Samson USB microphone from Long & McQuade which is primarily targeted to podcasters. Plugs into any USB port and is recognized by the OS as an audio input device. Should work with just about any recording software out there.
