Member's Public Profile "Referrals" - What Are They?

It has been brought to my attention that a new category called "Referrals" has recently been added to the member's public profiles section.

Any mod care to step up and explain just what this number means?

If you are referring to the number that is under the number of posts, it's not new. It's been there for as long as I've read ehMac. I think it increments if someone signs up and says you referred them (I think it's a field when you register)
