MBP Issues

I have a 1st Revision MBP and there have been a couple of issues as of late that I am wondering if anyone else has come across.

1) When coming out of sleep, the video seems to set itself to a Standard VGA display and I have to go into my System Preferences > Display and have it Detect Display to bring my screen back to where it should be.

2) USB ports no longer appear to Plug N Play. I use a wired keyboard on my desk and 9 times out of 10 it doesnt get recognized. This normally happens with the port on the right side of the computer but I am no discovering that the left port is also causing similar issues.

My machine went in for service a couple monts ago while I was out of the country. It had one of the fans replaced that was seriously acting up. I imagine that I should take it in again but my problem is that this is my work laptop and is sort of mission critical. No one else in the company runs a Mac and I would be completely lost without it.

I would be curious if there has been similar issues for anyone else.

I have the very first available 1.83 Ghz MBP with 2 G RAM. I got it 15 months ago and it has run flawlessly for the entire time.

Explain your situation to Apple. Maybe they can pay for a rental Macbook Pro.

Typically you can get a new Mac after the Mac has been in for repairs 3 times under AppleCare. This would be only the second, but you ask about a new Macbook Pro.

3 major repairs, and certainly not always, not even often, as this is a matter of some discretion for Apple. 3 logic boards would be different, for example.
I have the same display problem, but if switches the colour profile, not the definition. It happens when I switch back from another account. About every third time.

When this happens, I cannot switch back to another profile: I have to restart. So far, I have chalked it to Panther and 1st gen. MBPs. I assuem it will get sorted under the next Cat.
