MacWorld has an article about the speed of the G5 vs the G4. An interesting note in this article is that in your System Prefs under "Energy Saver" there is an option on what processor performance you want. The options are Automatic (default), Highest and Reduced. By setting it to Highest apparantly you can see some increase in speed, but I assume it will make the G5 run hotter.

Why you'd want to run it in Reduced mode is beyond me. Maybe when someone with a G5 has me over they can turn it to Reduced so I don't feel so bad about my B&W. :p
