Has anyone tried MacSpeech Dictate? Here's what I'd like to know:

1. Do you need to use the microphone included in the box or can you use any Mic (I have a USB AKG one that I really like)

2. How accurate and responsive is the program?

3. How does it work with Photoshop, word, final draft, safari?

4. Is it worth the $200?

I have two clients that adore it but I can't answer specifics.
Given my post count lately I'm considering it myself :)

I've been using it since it came out. The initial version was OK but since the major upgrade it has improved tremendously.

Replies:

You can use your existing mic - each mic you use will have its own profile. I have been using mine with a Blue mic and it is fine.

Accuracy: about 95% for dictation. Could not tell you how good it is for commands in different software as I use it for dictation. Works fine in Word.

Overall, almost as good as Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking (from whom it licenses parts of the software). Training it is quite fast, after an hour or so, you are good to go. Is it worth the $200, depends on how much you value being able to dictate your documents. Like I said, do not it for commands on software. Personally, I find it is worth it.
