Just recently, I have been experiencing a problem with the display on my Macbook Pro (17inch Unibody, 2009 running OS 10.6). After opening a full screen program(such as a video), I have experienced a flicker when moving windows(such as safari) around the desktop. I first noticed this after installing the recent Snow Leopard Graphics Update. Everything is fine after I readjust my display prefs (I change to a lower resolution, then back to normal). I have a feeling that this is due to the graphics update (I have noticed this flicker while in full screen programs and viewing full screen video as well. Does anyone else have this problem, or is there a way to revert back to before the graphics update, to see if this is the problem.

My graphics are set to Better Battery Life, which is what I keep them at about 90% of the time. This has not changed since installing the update. Everything is fine, until I begin working full screen(just tested again with a MegaVideo video on full screen, played it for about 10 secs, and then when moving my safari window(or mail window) the flicker happens again.

Why not try changing the settings to better graphics, log out and try again and see if there's any difference or improvement.

At least by doing so you won't have anything to loose.

Although this seems unlikely considering your MBP isn't that old...my much older 15" MBP exhibited some video flickering which got progressively worse with time. It was intermittent, but would often result in a blown out (white) display.

The GPU heatsink wasn't securely fastened to the GPU and the thermal paste was...well, it was pretty much non existent. A little bit of surgery and the display flicker was gone.

I wouldn't rule out a hardware problem (in my case it was heat) especially if it gets worse/more intermittent.

Well I doubt it is a hardware problem, as it only occurs after certain full screen applications, and it is not a constant flicker, it is like a semi-think flicker line through a window that I am moving around the desktop(such as safari window). Ive tried taking a screenshot, but it doesnt register.

It could be flash player, as when it has occurred recently, it has been while I have watched videos online through Youtube and Megavideo. Is there an update for Flash support on OS 10.6? I havent noticed one in Software Update.
