This is good information to keep tucked away in case you need it (or when you need it). Makes me think a 6-10 GB partition with only the OS would be a good idea--at least it would be easy and painless to wipe whenever necessary.

Better to go bigger with the partition (10GB).

As I had OS X.2 on a 6GB and found that I was running out of room or playing games to fit things into it.

I have just reformated to one drive and this simplifies things alot. But a partition in this case would be useful.

What about OS X needing to be on the first 8GB?

The 8GB limitation is for beige G3s. Something about the disk controller...

At least a few people know this rule. ;)

I get a lot of questions with people with newer machines who think the 8 GB limit also applies to them.
